Using those files and that launcher bypass, I can roll back to any version from 1.678 onwards. GTA5.exe, GTALanguageSelect.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe, PlayGTAV.exe and the update.rpf file. That single file controls pretty much everything mod-wise, as everything else needs that file to be able to run.Įvery time the game gets updated, I make a copy of 5 files (used to be 4). However, the simplest way to run either clean or modded, is by just renaming the dinput8.dll file in the main game folder, when you want no mods installed. I can run up to 6 versions across several drives from a custom launcher but the Steam version might not let you do something like that. I have the DVD version, which is much easier because it doesn't need another client to run it. There are ways of bypassing those rules but I don't know how they work with the Steam version.
It must be renamed to Grand Theft Auto V to run but your original must be renamed to something else first, like Grand Theft Auto V - Clean, or something similar.ĭoing that will let you run two copies but only one at a time.
It must be inside the same Rockstar Games folder as the original.
If you make a folder copy, then there are rules as to how it has to be done. You can't just copy the folder and then run it from there, because the registry is still pointing to the original folder.
